My name is Coskan and I am a DBA for 5 Years.
It is 00:39 AM in Turkey.
30 minutes ago The operator woke me up to inform that some of our exports failed .
Now i am writing this first message while i am waiting for the completion message of success (with prays).
My girlfriend woke with me and went to smoke with an angry face. I am on the bed by myself and writing a message for Oracle.
Who is my girlfriend right now ?
Oracle or She ?
IF It is bedtime and if i am with Oracle and if i am struggling with its problem i think Oracle is my real girlfriend
it is 00:44 right now and the export finished with success and my girlfriend turn back to bed.
now i dont want any Oracle problem for today.

I think i cant quit DBA shit if i want to continue computer engineering career.
Because
In a crisis time
Production DBA works while General Manager and his flatterers (his sub managers) looking at his Monitor.
but the others (developers network engineers system engineers ) works while a project manager or someone ranked more looking at his monitor.
It is worthy enough to be a DBA. Information is the HEART of business.
Without hearth nothing works. Brain (Application) Skeleton (Platform) Arms (Security Network)
I mostly like to manage the center of everything but i wish at least they pay me overtime when they call me in midnight.

sorry i dont agree with you,
i can guarantee you that, (at least in Turkey)
you will never be remembered by the company,
you will just take risks/responsibilities and cheer yourself.
you will always be remembered by your faults.
pls remember that every human-being does mistakes/faults in the time.
i suggest to you “Canakkale” to be a fisherman when you made the right decision.
